The Swedish chain IKEA has extended its trademark registration with Rospatent until August 2033. In June 2022, the company announced its withdrawal from Russia.
IN database Rospatent says that the mark is registered for the category “Collection of various goods, excluding their transportation.” The materials state that this will allow customers to browse and purchase products “through wholesale or retail stores, online catalogs, websites or teleshopping.”
In the summer of 2023, the Dutch copyright holder of the trademark IKEA Systems BV filed four applications with Rospatent. These included the registration of the IKEA and IKEA marks in two image variants each.
IKEA opened its first stores in Russia in 2000. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the company suspended sales in the country and announced the closure of its business. In February 2023, a government commission approved sale of three of four Russian IKEA factories. In February of this year, the Federal Tax Service challenged the transaction involving the transfer of 12.9 billion rubles. from Ikea Torg LLC of the Irish corporation Fami Ltd.
