Iceberry became the largest ice cream producer in Russia in 2022

Iceberry Group (brands Plombir Vologodsky, Zhemchuzhina Rossii, etc.) has become the leader among ice cream producers in Russia. In 2022, the company increased production volumes from 44,000 to 52,600 tons of ice cream, should from the rating of Milknews, Streda Consulting, Soyuzmoloko and the Union of Ice Cream Makers.
The company achieved such results thanks to the opening of a new factory in the Yaroslavl region and the merger with another producer of Petroholod ice cream.
Last year’s leader, Renna Group (Korovka iz Korenovka brand), on the contrary, reduced production volumes from 50,400 to 46,700 tons in 2022. At the same time, according to Nielsen, in terms of retail sales, Renna remained at the first line of the rating, increasing its share from 11.6% to 12.6% of the market.
The third line of the rating was occupied by Unilever (“Magnat”, “Gold Standard”, etc.). In 2022, the company reduced production volumes from 45,000 to 39,000 tons. The top five also included Froneri (a company created by Nestle and R&R) and the Russkiy Kholod group of companies.
According to Soyuzmoloko, last year the total production of ice cream in Russia decreased by 11% to 468,000 tons year on year. At the same time, the Union of Ice Cream Workers predict growth of this indicator by 5-10% in 2023. The authors of the rating noted that last year the 20 largest ice cream producers managed to maintain their total production at the level of 345,000 tons and increase their combined market share from 68% to 74%.
