The Hungarian oil and gas company MOL tested the run of oil from Saudi Arabia instead of Russian at its refinery in Slovakia, follows from the annual report MOL. The Slovnaft refinery became part of the MOL Group in 2000.
“At the Slovnaft refinery, a trial run of Arab Light brand oil has been successfully completed, all preparatory work has been completed there to increase the acceptance of non-Russian grades of oil in accordance with the rules prohibiting the export of oil products of Russian origin from February 5, 2023,” the document says.
In May Hungary was released from the EU embargo on oil from Russia. This was announced by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Exception made also for Bulgaria and Croatia. Sofia will be able to import oil from Russia by sea until the end of 2024, while vacuum gas oil will continue to be imported to Croatia. We are talking about EU sanctions under the sixth package. Energy resources are also being supplied via the Druzhba pipeline to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
The US and other G7 countries, the EU, and Australia have set a price ceiling for Russian oil products. It began to operate on February 5, now gasoline and diesel more than $100 per barrel are prohibited from transporting by sea.
