How much does a cruise ship tour cost?

Demand for cruises has increased by at least 20% over the year, market players told Kommersant FM. We are talking about both sea and river directions. On some routes during the May holidays, places are already completely sold out, the Russian Union of Tourism Industry reported. Seats for summer cruises are also gradually running out. Where do tourists go? And how much does it cost? Alexander Mezentsev will tell you.

In the river cruise segment, travel between Moscow and St. Petersburg leads from year to year. Seven days on this route cost at least 60 thousand rubles. per person. In second place, as a rule, are flights along the Volga. Gradually, tourists are looking at sea tours. Their choice is more modest, and the most popular offers in the domestic market remain those in Sochi, said Andrei Mikhailovsky, general director of the travel company Infoflot:

“We see that on average demand has increased by 15-20% compared to the previous year. If we talk about sea cruises, then our hit is the Astoria Grande liner, which departs from Sochi. Moreover, the tours begin at the end of March.

The May holidays are already a high season, because in Sochi at this time, in fact, it is full summer, as is the case on the Black Sea coast of Turkey, where cruises take place.

If we continue the topic of sea trips, then for obvious reasons there is less demand for them, but nevertheless it exists and is even increasing little by little. Closer to the flight, such tours can always become seriously more expensive, because the number of available seats simply decreases.”

Among cruises in Russia, routes to Karelia or Lake Baikal are in demand. But, in addition to domestic destinations, tourists are also increasingly thinking about foreign ones, although not all ships are ready to accept Russians after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. A significant part of international companies have refused to sell tickets, so demand for cruises from Turkey is growing. Those that go to Europe are especially popular, noted Aleksan Mkrtchyan, vice-president of the Alliance of Travel Agencies:

“This is mainly, of course, the Persian Gulf. But literally in April, motor ships stop operating there, and the Russians will begin sailing in the Mediterranean.

The most popular routes start in Istanbul and Izmir, and then to Greece and Italy. Such tours also include visits to the popular Greek islands of Mykonos, Santorini, and then the Italian cities of Bari and Trieste.

Large ships are prohibited from entering Venice, but it is an hour and a half drive from Trieste. Cruises will operate all summer, and then from November tours will begin around the Persian Gulf from Dubai.”

The cruise industry has always had a high booking depth. As a rule, tourists buy tickets at least six months in advance. Therefore, it will be quite difficult to find a place, for example, for May, market players say, especially for destinations in Asian or Mediterranean countries. They are especially popular due to weather conditions, said Alexey Mironov, general director of the Special Travel Club company:

“The main interest now is Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand. The Vietnam-Cambodia region is in strong demand for both marine and river programs. There is, let’s say, a stable demand for cruises in Europe among those who have a Schengen visa. There are those interested in Caribbean destinations. Our demand is mainly directed to those regions where it is already noticeably warmer – from the Mediterranean to Southeast Asia.”

The cost of cruises can start from several thousand rubles and reach $2 thousand per day. In the second case, the ship will correspond to a five-star hotel. One thing is constant for all types: the cost increases from year to year. Compared to last year, prices have increased by 10-15%, and closer to the summer season the average bill will only increase.
