Tensions are increasing among teachers about the hiring of national education contract workers. Particularly in the academies with the most deficits, those of Créteil and Versailles, where back-to-school communications on recruitment and “loyalty” contractors hit the incumbents.

Secondary contract workers, the most numerous, are offered a basic salary of between 2,022 and 2,327 euros gross per month, depending on their level of diploma (bac + 3 at least). The website of Versailles Academy specifies that, in the first degree, these remunerations are 1,921 euros gross per month for holders of a license and 2,122 euros gross for holders of a master 2.

However, with a compulsory baccalaureate + 5, the salary of a teacher recruited by competition is 1,828 euros gross during his internship year (where some now have full-time classes) and does not exceed 2,300 euros until after eight years of practice.

“These academies are the ones that are experiencing the most serious consequences of the recruitment crisis, they are trying to attract contract workers to ensure that there are no vacancies”explains Sophie Vénétitay, secretary general of the SNES-FSU.

The Court of Auditors already noted in 2018 that, with the aim of attractiveness, the Créteil academy paid its contract workers 13% more than the national average, and 20% more than in academies like Bordeaux or Grenoble. Other criticisms have been raised by statements filmed by the rector of CréteilDaniel Auverlot, shortly before the start of the school year, who made this observation: “Our policy has been rather to retain contract employees and put them before incumbents. » An operation contrary to the provisions of the public service, immediately denounced by the unions. Mr. Auverlot specifies that he was talking about the “very special case of the south of Seine-et-Marne”unattractive territory. “When a position remains vacant after the transfer, we prefer to keep a contract worker in the position who wants to stay there rather than offering it to TZRs [titulaire de zone de remplacement]but it is a completely marginal situation”he assures.
