Hewlett Packard Enterprise buys Juniper Networks for $14 billion – Kommersant

Late yesterday evening Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced on the purchase of telecommunications equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks. The deal was being discussed earlier in the day. reported The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources. Under the terms of the deal, HPE will pay $40 for each Juniper share, for a total transaction value of approximately $14 billion.
Juniper Networks was founded in 1996 and provides telecommunications equipment to businesses and government agencies. For HPE, in particular, Juniper’s development of Wi-Fi equipment with built-in artificial intelligence, Mist AI, which helps optimize the operation of networks, is of interest.
Juniper has a market capitalization of $9.6 billion. HPE estimates that the acquisition of Juniper will double the size of HPE’s networking business and “create a new leader with a broad portfolio of assets that will provide customers and partners with a compelling new choice to drive business value.”
