German manufacturer of cosmetics and household chemicals Henkel closed a deal to sell its business in Russia to a consortium of local investors for 54 billion rubles. says in the company’s quarterly report.
“On April 20, Henkel announced the signing of an agreement to sell its business in Russia to a consortium of local financial investors… Meanwhile, the deal has been completed, the sale price is 54 billion rubles. (about 600 million euros),” the report says.
The consortium, which became the new owner of Henkel’s business in Russia, included Augment Investments, Kismet Capital Group and Elbrus Services.
After the deal became known, Dmitry Yalov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region for Economics and Investments, said that the Henkel plant located in the region save workplaces.
Henkel announced the termination of business in Russia in April 2022. In March, the German manufacturer announced the suspension of all planned investments in Russia. Simone Bajel-Tra, Chairman of the Henkel Shareholders and Supervisory Board, said last December that the company had launched the process of selling the Russian business and plans to complete it in the near future.
Henkel has been operating in Russia since 1991. At the end of 2022, according to the company, it owned factories in Perm, the Saratov region (Engels), the Leningrad region (Tosno), the Stavropol Territory, the Ulyanovsk, Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as two enterprises in the Moscow region – in Noginsk and Kolomna. In the Russian Federation, Henkel produced Persil, Losk, Deni, Laska, Pemos, Pemolux, Vernel, etc. detergents and cleaners, as well as adhesives (including Moment) and surface treatment products. Among the products of Russian enterprises Henkel there are also construction mixtures Ceresit. The Russian business annually brought to the group about $1.06 billion.
