Helsinki city hall stops selling PepsiCo brands after complaints from Kyiv

The National Agency of Ukraine for the Prevention of Corruption made this decision on 1 September. On September 3, SAS dropped PepsiCo products. On the same day, a similar decision was made by the Helsinki City Hall. Yesterday, September 4, MP Tuomas Kettunen demanded to remove PepsiCo products from sale in Parliament. He suggested replacing the soda with blueberry juice.
“PepsiCo quadrupled its profits in Russia last year. This is unacceptable at any level and parliament cannot support it. This issue is of great symbolic importance and Parliament has a moral obligation to do the right thing,” he said in a statement.
National Agency of Ukraine for the Prevention of Corruption added to the list of “war sponsors” of Mars and PepsiCo due to the fact that they continue to do business in Russia. PepsiCo has 19 factories, 20,000 employees and 40,000 agricultural workers in the country. In 2022, the net profit of the PepsiCo division in Russia grew by 333%.
