The creation of an “elite” Russian analogue of the online dating service Tinder is possible, but it will have the risks of unpopularity and a dubious reputation. The heads of Russian dating services said this in a conversation with RBC.

According to Andrei Bronetsky, general director of the Mamba service, a service for communication based on interests with a “selective audience” will appear in Russia “sooner or later.” The application can have “strict filtering” of users in order to select an interlocutor suitable for each person’s interests.

The creation of a service for communication between successful people in the future is also considered feasible by Loveplanet CEO Elena Belyaevskikh. However, according to her, such an application may die due to a lack of audience – it may be eliminated during confirmation of whether the user is a businessman or a famous person. Such an application also remains at risk of moving into the sphere of fraud or escort services, the general director of the Tabor service said in a conversation with RBC.

The Tinder service, which is owned by Match Group, stopped work in Russia on June 30 this year. Over the next month, dating apps Mamba and VK Dating were downloaded by 2 million and 3 million people, respectively. Market participants told Kommersant FM that a trend has emerged in Russia towards offline dating.
