More than 200 million email addresses of Twitter users have been hacked. As reported Reuters Israeli cybersecurity researcher Alan Gol, the data was posted on a hacker forum. The exact date of the break-in is unknown.
Alan Gaul called the incident a “significant leak”. According to him, the violation can lead to many such hacks and the publication of users’ personal data.
Reuters notes that the hack could have happened as early as 2021, before businessman Elon Musk took over the company.
In December 2022, it was reported that the data of 400 million Twitter users was hacked. The data was published on the Breach forum. The leak was explained by an APl (Application programming interface) vulnerability that the company discovered back in 2021. Alan Gol told Reuters that he released a report about it after the hack was reported in December. However, he does not know if Twitter management has taken steps to fix the problem.
