The pro-Russian hacker group NoName 057(16) has carried out cyberattacks on the websites of at least five Italian banks, the country’s cybersecurity agency said. The hackers themselves also claimed to be involved in the attack.
These are the banks Intesa Sanpaolo, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, BPER Banca, FinecoBank and Banca Popolare di Sondrio. Hackers resorted to DDoS attacks to disrupt websites. Source Reuters in one of the banks said that their website was down due to heavy traffic for a short period of time, but there were no failures in the mobile application. Representative of Intesa Sanpaolo on the morning of August 2 informedthat the bank had decided to close its branch in Moscow.
“We attacked five Italian banks, their clients go crazy and write on social networks that services and applications do not work for financial institutions,” the message says. Telegram-channel NoName 057(16).
NoName057(16) is a pro-Russian hacker group that declared itself in March 2022. Since that time, hackers have carried out a number of cyberattacks on Ukrainian, American, European websites of government agencies, the media and private companies. In particular, on the day Finland joined NATO – April 4 – NoName 057(16) attacked Websites of the Finnish Parliament.
Messages in the Telegram channel NoName 057(16) are accompanied by an emoji in the form of a Russian flag, the group’s logo is a bear’s paw print. Screenshots confirming the hacking of websites show a brown bear.
