Governor Vorobyov said that the building of the Ozon warehouse near Istra could no longer be saved

The burning building of the Ozon warehouse near Istra can no longer be saved, Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov said on the air of Rossiya 24.

“The fire, we see, is large-scale, the building can no longer be saved, this is obvious,” he said (quote according to TASS).

According to Vorobyov, due to the scale of the fire, first of all, rescuers concentrated their efforts on evacuating workers and avoiding casualties. The location of the two employees of the warehouse has not yet been established, the governor added.

The message about the fire at the Ozon warehouse near Istra was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations on August 3 in the afternoon. The area of ​​ignition was initially about 20,000 square meters. m, 1000 people were evacuated from the building, TASS specified. Later, the fire area increased to 50,000 “squares”, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

According to preliminary data from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 11 people were injured, two of them were hospitalized, and nine more are receiving outpatient care. By information RIA Novosti, one person died as a result of the fire. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 96 people and 30 pieces of equipment, including two Ka-32 helicopters, were involved in extinguishing the fire. In emergency services considerthat the main version of the fire in the warehouse is arson.

Ozon reported that the goods stored in the fulfillment are currently hidden from the showcase on the marketplace. Sellers will receive compensation for damaged or lost items, and buyers will receive refunds for lost orders, Ozon promised.

Head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS) Igor Yurgens informed Vedomosti that the potential damage from a fire at Ozon warehouses in the Istra district of the Moscow region could exceed 10 billion rubles. At the same time, he added, the building and contents of the burning Ozon warehouses are insured by insurance companies that are members of the ARIA in the amount of 17 billion rubles.
