Over the course of five seasons, the most attentive viewers of the series “Emergency” could learn more about the work of doctors than the doctors themselves know. The creators of the project have also significantly expanded their medical skills and are not going to stop. The sixth season of the series is starting on NTV, and the stars shared their impressions.
The ambulance substation, as always, is full of cases, but the doctors manage to have affairs and even engage in real investigations. Their clients are sometimes very specific. Some are hiding from blood feud, others are very difficult to convince to get vaccinated, and there are also victims of the race for beauty. The series is constantly supervised by two acting doctors: one of them participates in writing the script, the other is present on the set.
True, some actors, after filming about two hundred and fifty cases of medical care over five seasons, can already be trusted with quite serious manipulations. “Now I know how to insert a catheter into the bone marrow, which is located under the knee,” says Svetlana Bryukhanova, who played the role of Lyuba. “But I hope I never have to do this in real life.”
Nevertheless, medical skills once came in handy for the actors. A few seasons ago, during filming in the courtyard of a residential building, a mother and daughter ran up to the “doctors.” The girl fell on the playground and cut her eyebrow. Mom, seeing the ambulance and people in medical uniforms, thought that these were real doctors. And the actors, led by Gosha Kutsenko, were not at a loss, provided first aid to the child, treated the wound, and the driver from the set took mother and daughter to the hospital.
“We always have a lot of interesting medical cases that can be very difficult both emotionally and physically,” says Gosha Kutsenko. “For example, resuscitation of children is always stressful for the entire film crew, because the kids believe in what is happening, and we try to do everything correctly and not harm anyone.”
But if there is always a specialist on the set who will give advice, then when preparing, actors can only rely on their memory. The names of medications and medical terms, including in Latin, as the stars of the series admit, are not easy to remember, so you have to cram them, like in school. And also keep in mind that surprises are always possible on set.
“Reading the script, I realized that I would have a scene with a spider, of which I am terrified,” recalls Stepan Kulikov, who plays Ushakov. “But I decided that since no one asked about it, it means they’ll play it somehow.” However, on the set it turned out that the spider was real and it should crawl over me. But you can’t come to an agreement with him. As a result, the spider crawled across my face, through my hair… It was very scary!”
