Journalist and TV presenter Katerina Gordeeva (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent) announced the closure of the Youtube project “Tell Gordeeva” due to the law adopted today banning the placement of advertising by foreign agents. The interviews that have already been filmed, as well as those that are being filmed right now, will be published soon. The project itself has been suspended.

“Now advertising is a crime with us. It’s hard to believe that someone would decide to do it out of noble intentions, risking their business, themselves, and loved ones. In general, we are suspending work,” says a message on the Telegram channel. According to the journalist, the project existed using funds from advertising integrations.

The Youtube project “Tell Gordeeva” was launched in January 2021. Katerina Gordeeva (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent) interviewed famous Russian politicians, journalists, human rights activists and cultural figures. The journalist conducted a series of interviews with three mothers of Russian soldiers who ended up in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. In addition to interviews, the channel aired documentaries: about the women of the Gulag, about the St. Petersburg poetess Olga Berggolts, about the director Evgenia Berkovich, about a military man with cancer, about the only women’s hockey team in Russia.

Today State Duma deputies accepted in the third reading the law on a complete ban on advertising on all information resources of foreign agents, as well as advertising of such resources. Responsibility for violations will rest on the shoulders of the advertiser and advertising distributor. The ban applies to any platform – websites, blogs and social networks.
