German tea manufacturer Milford leaves Russia

The German holding Laurens Spethmann, the manufacturer of Milford tea and sweeteners, left Russia, transferring the business to top management, reports RBC with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. The owner of the German “daughter” of the company – LLC “Milford” – became the general director of the company Ilya Blinov. The head office of the company did not comment on the exit from the Russian business.
Dmitry Vostrikov, executive director of the Rusprodsoyuz association, which includes Milford, told the publication that Milford moved production to Russia as part of import substitution in 2014 and continues to supply products to the Russian market. Ramaz Chanturia, General Director of the Roschaykofe Association, said that he knew about the transfer of Milford LLC to Russian management. He noted that the Milford brand was popular in Russia in the early 2000s, but now its sales are low.
