German gas storage facilities are 91% full – Kommersant

As of December 27, German gas storage facilities were 90.8% full. This data Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), which monitors the amount of gas in storage facilities. As the German storage association INES notes, this level is “well above average” for December. Gas reserves in the EU as a whole also remain at a high level – gas storage facilities are almost 87% full.
The high level of gas inventories in Germany is due to fairly warm weather in recent weeks, as well as continued active gas imports and storage replenishment. “The mild temperatures in November and December meant that consumption was quite low, avoiding a strong reduction in gas reserves,” said INES head Sebastian Heinermann.
