Gedeon Richter begins supplying analogues of foreign drugs for diabetics to Russia

The Gedeon Richter company has decided to introduce three generics to the Russian market at once from foreign pharmaceutical companies that have stopped their activities in Russia. One of her partners told Vedomosti about this. A representative of the Hungarian company confirmed this information. According to him, we are talking about analogues of the drugs Januvia (active ingredient sitagliptin), which are produced by the American MSD, as well as Galvus (vildagliptin) and Galvus met (a combination of vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride) from the Swiss Novartis. These drugs are prescribed for type 2 diabetes to normalize blood glucose levels. Deliveries of generics of these drugs have already begun, says Vedomosti’s interlocutor, but he did not specify their volumes. Inquiries to MSD and Novartis remained unanswered.

After February 2022, when some Western pharmaceutical companies announced a reduction in investments in Russia, their competitors had the opportunity to increase their share in the local market, say experts interviewed by Vedomosti.
