The head of the State Duma Committee on Energy, Pavel Zavalny, said that Gazprom’s losses could reach approximately 1 trillion rubles. in 2025 due to the adoption of amendments to increase the mineral extraction tax (MET) on the company’s gas condensate. Speaking about the amount of loss, Mr. Zavalny referred to materials from the Institute of Energy Research (INEI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In its study, the institute assessed the tax burden on the company for the next three years, taking into account the decline in exports and export revenue.

“In the context of a sharp decline in revenue, an increase in gas production, plus an additional tax burden, it turns out that in these conditions Gazprom is being driven into losses, which will reach about 1 trillion rubles in 2025. taking into account gasification obligations and other things,” Pavel Zavalny said during a meeting of the Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, which discussed the increase in the mineral extraction tax on gas condensate.

Earlier today, November 7, the government contributed to the State Duma amendments to the Tax Code increasing the mineral extraction tax on condensate for Gazprom. It is planned to increase the mineral extraction tax by a factor equal to the Kabdt coefficient multiplied by 1.5, which characterizes premiums for gasoline and diesel fuel and is used in calculating the mineral extraction tax on oil.
