“Since October 2022, PJSC Gazprom, together with Turkish partners, has been working on the issue of creating a gas hub in Turkey. The Russian side presented its concept of creating a gas hub, the parameters and principles of its operation,” says the annual report of Gazprom.
Gas hub construction announced Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-October 2022. In early December, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declaredthat work is underway in the country to prepare for the construction of a gas hub. It is expected that at the expense of the hub, Russia will be able to redirect gas that previously went to the West through the Nord Stream and the Yamal-Europe pipeline.
Project to create a new gas cluster in the shortest possible time cook Gazprom and Turkish Botas. According to Ankara, the hub is being created on the territory of Rumelia (Thrace) near Turkey’s borders with Greece and Bulgaria.
