Computers and smartphones may rise in price by 10% until the end of summer, report “News” with reference to sources in the electronics market. They cited the rise in the dollar as the reason.

According to the publication, in June equipment was purchased at the rate of 75–80 rubles/$. If this indicator stays at the level of 90–100 rubles/$, then, most likely, gadgets will rise in price by at least 10% by the end of August, an employee of one of the retail chains said. He clarified that smartphones will rise in price first of all.

“If the dynamics continue, then sooner or later, purchases and deliveries of goods will be made at the new dollar rate, which will also affect the price in stores. So far, a preliminary forecast can be made that the increase will be 5-10%, ”re:Store network director Rasim Lemberansky told Izvestia.

A new generation of Apple smartphones is expected to be released in September, and their prices could be 15-20% higher than what was originally expected, an employee of one of the major electronics retailers told the publication. According to him, now they do not make large purchases, so the stocks are “relatively small” – for a few weeks.

Andrey Gubanov, general director of the MTS retail network, said that the company would react to changes in the exchange rate depending on the situation on the market. M.Video-Eldorado said that the situation with prices this year will depend on the exchange rate, logistics costs, product availability and “a number of other external factors.”

Earlier, Kommersant found out that manufacturers of household appliances and electronics, against the backdrop of an increase in the euro and dollar, have been raising prices for the second time since the beginning of the year. Retailers talked about increasing the purchase cost of products by 10-15% for a number of brands, including Beko, Tefal, Lex, and others. Alexey Pogudalov, commercial director of Holodilnik.ru, said that the situation will most of all affect products that are not produced in the Russian Federation, namely on smartphones, laptops and tablets. According to him, price increases can be expected this week.
