Anita Pointer, founding member of the pop group The Pointer Sisters, has died. The Grammy winner was 75 years old.
“She fought heroically with cancer,” said Roger Neal, the singer’s agent. The singer reportedly died surrounded by her family.
In 1969, Bonnie Pointer and her sister June formed the duo The Pointer Sisters. Later, two more sisters joined: Anita and Ruth, that is, the duo turned into a full-fledged group.
Thanks to the song Fairytale, the group became the first female band to win a Grammy. In total, The Pointer Sisters has received this prestigious award three times during its existence.
