Former stand-up comedian and now producer and media mogul Byron Allen has made an offer to buy part of the television assets of the Walt Disney Corporation. Writes about this Bloomberg with reference to sources. According to them, we are talking about the ABC television network (one of the largest in the United States), cable channels FX and National Geographic, as well as some local channels.

Mr. Allen is also reportedly offering $10 billion for the assets. The amount has been calculated as eight times EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), so it could be adjusted as this figure rises or falls.

Already at Walt Disney statedthat they are “open to exploring different strategic options” for their business, but that the company has “not made any decisions regarding ABC or any other properties.”

In July, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger said it was considering selling some of its television assets, which have recently faced growing competition from streaming services. Bloomberg previously reported that Nexstar Media, one of the leading operators of local television stations in the United States, is also in negotiations with Disney to purchase these assets.
