Forbes named Ozon the most popular Russian franchise

In 2022, the Ozon retailer became the most popular franchise in Russia among entrepreneurs, believes Forbes. In the period from January to September of this year, 2,650 partner points for issuing orders under the sign of Ozon opened in the country.

The company has also been included in the magazine’s annual rating 30 most profitable franchises and took 23rd place in it. At the end of last year, Ozon’s revenue amounted to 104.4 billion rubles, and the amount of investment in the opening of the retailer’s franchise point, according to Forbes, is only 0.2 million rubles.

According to experts interviewed by the publication, in 2022 the dynamics of the franchising market in Russia directly correlated with geopolitical events. In March of this year, against the backdrop of the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, market participants “choosed a wait-and-see tactic” and refused to invest in projects, due to which interest in buying a franchise decreased by 30%. After the announcement in September of a partial mobilization in the franchise market, almost 70% of transactions failed, which is also associated with the mass departure of the target audience of franchises from Russia.
