Over the ten months of 2023, Russian bailiffs collected court-imposed multiple fines in the amount of 1.6 billion rubles from those convicted of bribery. Compared to 2022, the amount of fines collected by bailiffs increased by 40%, the press service of the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia told TASS.
From the beginning of January to the end of October, the FSSP was carrying out more than 9.2 thousand enforcement proceedings for the collection of fines imposed for committing corruption crimes. The FSSP also indicated that due to evasion of paying fines, by court decision, the punishment was replaced with imprisonment in 97 enforcement proceedings.
In the first nine months of 2023, almost 9 thousand people accused of corruption appeared in court, reported Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin. The most common type of crime in this category in January–September was bribery. Moreover, 40% of those accused of corruption committed crimes in the law enforcement sphere. In total, since the beginning of the year, the courts have received 7,949 criminal cases of corruption against 8,898 individuals.
