The annual festival of Russian cinema “Window to Europe” officially changed its name to “Vyborg” after the venue. This information appeared on site events back in mid-May, journalists drew attention to it today, June 6.

“The dates of the Vyborg-2023 festival are known. The 31st Russian Film Festival will be held in Vyborg from 4 to 11 August,” the message on the festival’s website says.

The festival was founded in 1993 under the name “Window to Europe”, since 1997 it has become traditionally held in the second decade of August. The founders of the festival are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Leningrad Region and the Russian-European Film Association. Participants are evaluated in three competitive programs – “Feature films”, “Documentary films” and “Animation”. In 2020, the festival was not held for the first time in its history due to the covid pandemic. In December 2022, the president of the film festival, Armen Medvedev, died.
