The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia sent requests to the largest chicken meat producers PJSC Cherkizovo, GAP Resurs and JSC Prioskolye to conduct an analysis of production costs. FAS found that they occupy a collective dominant position in the product market.
“If this provision is abused and monopoly high prices are established, antimonopoly measures may be applied to organizations, including turnover fines,” the service said in a statement. Telegram.
The FAS reminded that PJSC Cherkizovo and GAP Resurs also need to comply with orders issued as part of control over economic concentration and submit justifications for increasing prices for chicken meat by more than 5% to the antimonopoly service.
In August, Russian restaurateurs complained to a significant increase in prices for chicken and pork. According to the ombudsman for the Moscow restaurant market, Sergei Mironov, the increase in prices for chicken and pork among suppliers of Russian restaurants from the beginning of March to the end of July amounted to 20–30%.
