FAS does not rule out antimonopoly measures against Yandex Taxi – Kommersant

The Federal Antimonopoly Service is in dialogue with Yandex Taxi regarding tariffs, said Stanislav Kotelnikov, head of the information technology department of the FAS communications and information technology department. He did not rule out that antitrust measures would be taken against the service.

“We also have some questions for them regarding tariffs. We assume that we will begin to clarify these issues for ourselves in the near future. And, perhaps, if we cannot find some adequate solution, antimonopoly response measures will be taken,” Mr. Kotelnikov said at a round table in the State Duma (quoted from TASS).

The FAS recalled that the day before, on August 20, the moratorium on antimonopoly inspections of IT companies was lifted. Mr. Kotelnikov said that the department has developed action tactics.

FAS has repeatedly stated about the dominant position of Yandex Taxi in the market. The service has grounds for antimonopoly measures, but inspections were limited by a moratorium. At the beginning of March, the head of the FAS Maxim Shaskolsky statedthat inspections of Yandex Taxi may begin in the near future. Complaints about the service are related to the cost of travel and blocking of drivers and passengers. After this statement the service approved reduction of commission for drivers if the number of orders exceeds the number of cars many times, and decided to change user rating system.

About lifting the moratorium on inspections of IT companies – in the Kommersant FM article “FAS will return with inspections”.
