Exports of red caviar from Russia in January-October decreased by 46% year-on-year

Exports of salmon (red) caviar from Russia in January-October 2023 amounted to 125.2 tons, which is 46% lower than for the same period in 2022. The volume of exports of sturgeon (black) caviar in the first ten months of this year decreased in annual terms by 14%, to 2.4 tons, reported press service Rosrybolovstvo.

The press release clarifies that the volume of red caviar production during the reporting period amounted to 21.1 thousand tons, which is 2.7 times more than in January-October last year. Imports of salmon caviar amounted to 30.3 tons, which is 74% lower than last year. The volume of black caviar production increased year-on-year by 3%, to 36.2 tons. Imports of sturgeon caviar decreased by 42%, reaching 9.7 tons, reports Rosrybolovstvo.

November 16 All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters reported, that this year prices for red caviar have decreased against the backdrop of an increase in production volumes due to the successful salmon run. For example, pink salmon caviar in the Far Eastern wholesale market by mid-November cost 25% less than last year.
