Export restrictions freed up about 1 million tons of diesel fuel for the domestic market

Marine exports of diesel fuel of the 5th environmental class (K5) from Russia during the period of a temporary export ban from September 21 to October 6 amounted to 520,000 tons. This follows from Kpler calculations, which Vedomosti reviewed. Exports of diesel fuel by rail, which account for a small share of supplies, fell 6 times in September 2023 compared to September 2022 to 10,600 tons and by 23% by August of this year, said a representative of the Institute for Problems of Natural Monopolies.
According to Kpler data, diesel supplies by sea abroad were three times higher before this. For example, in two weeks from August 21 to September 6, 1.54 million tons were exported, and from July 21 to August 6 – 1.52 million tons. Thus, diesel fuel supplies to the domestic market could increase by approximately 1 million tons over the period export restrictions.
