According to the SuperJob survey, the majority of Russian employers do not check the actual place of work of their remote employees. Only one in five employers require such information to be provided.
1,000 respondents took part in the survey. The results of the study are cited by RIA Novosti.
Those who control the whereabouts of an employee explain this by the need to know whether it is possible to call him to the office. Some believe that this “affects the quality of remote communications in the system”, or that the employer is responsible for the safety and health of the employee during working hours.
According to the survey, only three out of ten employees who work remotely tell the manager about their location during working hours. Every tenth does it at the request of the employer, 18% – on their own initiative.
Three years after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of positions that involve permanent work outside the office began to decline in Russia. Employers are reducing the number of such vacancies for a number of reasons, including reduced productivity of remote workers, and additional difficulties with their control.
