Energy ministers of the EU countries have approved granting member states the right to impose a ban on the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia without imposing new sanctions. This was stated on March 28 by Estonian European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson following a meeting of the EU Energy Council.
“I welcome the addition by the Council of the EU of a provision that gives EU countries the ability to temporarily limit capacity for [поставок] gas, including LNG, from Russia,” she said (quoted by RIA Novosti).
