From today, February 6, Estonia has banned the purchase, import and transport of Russian oil products, including gasoline in cans. This was announced by the head of the service of prohibitions and restrictions in the field of social protection of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board Piret Tinkus.

She explained that residents of the European Union (EU) can buy fuel in Russia if needed to complete their trip and return to the EU. Motorists have the right to import the fuel that is in the tank of their vehicle for use in it. Draining fuel is allowed only when the machine is being repaired and on the condition that it is poured back.

“It is estimated that today, when crossing the border with Estonia for the first time, about 80% of cars have a ten-liter canister of gasoline, in addition to a filled fuel tank,” said Piret Tinkus (quoted by TASS). She added that a similar ban is in effect in the Baltic countries and Finland.

From December 5, 2022 EU, G7 countries and Australia introduced the price ceiling for offshore deliveries of Russian oil is $60 per barrel. Estonian Prime Minister Kaya Kallas urged to its reduction. This initiative is also support Lithuania and Poland. In February, the EU also approved price ceiling for oil products from Russia at $100 per barrel.
