Ericsson will cut 1.2 thousand employees in Sweden – Kommersant

Today, March 25, Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson announced about the intention to lay off 1.2 thousand employees in Sweden. In total, Ericsson had almost 100 thousand employees at the end of 2023, of which 14 thousand were in Sweden.
The company intends to take other measures to reduce costs, including optimizing production and management processes and eliminating some premises and services. Ericsson attributes the need for cost-saving measures to the difficult conditions in the telecommunications market. In particular, sales of equipment for 5G networks are slowing down. Ericsson has previously stated that it expects the telecommunications equipment market to shrink this year.
