Equifax: Russians’ debts on credit cards for the first time exceeded 1.5 trillion rubles

In July, the debt of Russians on credit cards grew by 2%, exceeding 1.5 trillion rubles for the first time, according to Equifax credit bureau data. The number of active credit cards last month increased by 2.2% to 52.7 million cards, which was a new all-time high.
At the same time, the issuance of credit cards decreased by 4.1%, to 1.7 million units. The average limit for them also decreased slightly – by 0.8%, to 68.7 thousand rubles. The number of credit cards on which the Russians made a delay increased by 0.6%, to 3.02 million, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Equifax’s calculations.
Demand for credit cards in Russia began to grow in June. During this month, customers received 15% more payment cards for borrowers than in May – 120 thousand, reported National Bureau of Credit Histories. According to the Unicom24 financial ecosystem, the vast majority of borrowers called the optimal amount of the limit is 100 thousand rubles.
