Engines on already built SSJ100s will not be replaced by Russian ones

The replacement of the SaM146 engines on the current generation of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional aircraft with Russian PD-8s is not yet envisaged. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke about this in an interview with Vedomosti. These aircraft have been in operation since 2011, and now Russian carriers have about 150 SSJ100s.
“The SSJ New should appear in our country from 2024, it involves the use of PD-8 engines. We initially did not allocate budgetary resources to carry out design work and certify these engines for the old Superjet,” Manturov explained. SSJ New is a version of the SSJ100 aircraft with the maximum level of localization of the main systems and assemblies.
