Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov did not comment on proposals to nationalize the subsidiary of the Danish Carlsberg Group, the Baltika brewing company. However, he noted that every case of possible nationalization is carefully considered by the government and the presidential administration.

According to sources “Vedomosti”, the president of Baltika, Taimuraz Bolloev, proposed in a letter to the head of the Federal Property Management Agency, Vadim Yakovenko, to nationalize the company. He called this step the only way out, since the Carlsberg Group did not accept the proposal from the Russian side for a deal “with more than acceptable conditions.”

“I leave this without comment for now,” said Dmitry Peskov. According to him, each case is unique “and is subject to careful consideration by the government and the “presidential” administration.” “Mainly, of course, in the government,” he added.

Carlsberg Group planned to leave the Russian market by selling Baltika Breweries. At the end of June, the group announced that the search for an investor for Baltika had been completed. That same month, Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the shares of foreign companies in Baltika are temporarily transferred to the Federal Property Management Agency.

After that Carlsberg stopped licensing agreements with Baltika, and the group’s CEO Jakob Aarup-Andersen accused the Russian authorities of theft business. Currently, the book value of Baltika’s fixed assets is 17 billion rubles.
