Durov explained the blocking of Russian-language channels in Telegram at the request of Apple

Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that the rules of the messenger expressly prohibit public calls for violence. On September 23, at the request of Apple, Telegram blocked several Russian-language channels related to Belarus with 80,000 subscribers on the iPhone/iPad.
“Administrators of several more similar channels with a total of 50,000 subscribers received warnings from our team that they are violating Apple’s rules,” said in Telegram channel Mr Durov. He noted that leaving after blocking to other mobile applications will not help violators avoid access restrictions, since any other application is also required to comply with the rules of application stores.
Channel administrators should do everything possible to ensure that violations of Apple’s rules do not repeat, otherwise their channels will be blocked in versions of Telegram distributed through the App Store and Google Play, said Pavel Durov.
“At best, offending channels will remain available in the web and Telegram versions downloaded directly from telegram.org. However, this will not affect those channels that violate the rules of Telegram itself, and not the rules of Apple or Google,” Durov said. For example, after a repeated violation, a Russian-language channel was removed that called for violent actions against defenseless people.
