Dozhd will not return to work the dismissed journalist Korostylev

The editor-in-chief of the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent) Tikhon Dzyadko (recognized as a foreign agent) said that journalist Alexei Korostelev, dismissed for a phrase about helping Russian soldiers, they will not be reinstated at work. Mr. Dzyadko announced this on the air of the Latvian channel LTV during a discussion with the head of the Latvian Electronic Media Council, Ivars Abolins.

Mr. Dzyadko called “personal opinion” the words Director General of Dozhd Natalia Sindeyeva (recognized as a foreign agent) with a request to the journalists who left the TV channel to return to work. According to Tikhon Dzyadko, he, and not Natalya Sindeeva, determines the editorial and personnel policy of Dozhd.

On December 6, the Latvian National Electronic Media Council annulled Dozhd’s license. The decision was made in the interests of “state security and public order.” This happened after dismissal Alexey Korostelev channel management.

On December 1, on the air of Dozhd, Aleksey Korostelev read out the editorial staff’s request to send messages about violations during mobilization by mail and expressed the hope that the channel would help solve them. This was regarded as support for the Russian army. After the dismissal of the journalist, several more employees left the TV channel as a sign of support.

According to Ivars Abolins, head of the Council for Electronic Media of Latvia, the media regulator had one more complaint about the work of the channel. According to him, Dozhd, which received a Latvian license in the summer, was supposed to accompany the broadcast with a translation into the state language of Latvia. He stated that Dozhd was given time to comply with this requirement, but nothing was done until December.
