Domogarov Jr. told the truth about his mother’s death: he encountered human meanness

At a difficult moment in his life, when his mother became seriously ill and hopes for a favorable outcome were fading every day, Alexander Domogarov Jr. began working on the eight-episode film “She’s So Cool.” The director’s dramatic personal circumstances could put the entire crew at risk. Sometimes, instead of support, he was met with human indifference and meanness.

Everything happened quickly. In August, his mother died after a serious illness. The son fought for the life of his loved one until the last hour. And in July, when rumors began around the series, Alexander decided to tell the whole truth in order to put an end to the rumors.

“Today was supposed to be the 10th shift of my project “She’s so cool,” he explained. – We have been doing it for almost two years. Unfortunately, the person closest to me is very seriously ill. For more than two years now we have been fighting a very nasty disease. When it all started, I was finishing the film “Palma”, and it was very difficult and scary for me. But all the horror came precisely at the beginning of filming of the series. Unfortunately, the treatment stopped helping. Hope was fading. But we fought with all our might. Hope for another treatment option that will contain the disease and I will be able to film. The day before filming began, a very bad analysis came in, so I made a choice in favor of a relative rather than the project. I wouldn’t forgive myself! And stopping a project in the middle of filming is worse than not starting it.

Alexander warned everyone in advance that this could happen and asked them to provide backup with another director. He did not hide the fact that if something happened, he would break down and leave St. Petersburg for home in Moscow. Life has turned into a nightmare.

– All the sins were blamed on me and my closest friend-producer, with whom we always work together. Together we came up with the idea for “Palma” more than three years ago and released it. Everything was wonderful: the premiere, the audience, many offers. We began to develop the second Palma and other bright projects. Now it’s empty. There is nothing – prospects, light. Nothing. And there are a lot of “not very good” people who enjoy kicking someone who is down, finishing them off, and gloating. Where they can’t beat me, they beat my friend – supposedly it’s her fault that she couldn’t convey to everyone that I won’t film. But I have an extract from the hospital, 12 hours before the motor, which says that the body’s capabilities have been exhausted, the doctors are stopping treatment. Now we are home! We are trying to live somehow.

Alexander asked for forgiveness from the group and producers for nervous breakdowns when he behaved ugly. And he was left alone with his grief. Real friends and father supported me.

The group waited for the director to return. Filming of the series “She’s So Cool” continues. It’s a dramedy and road movie rolled into one about growing up and becoming friends with someone special who has autism spectrum disorder. Alexander Domogarov Jr. is directing a series for the first time. Before that, he released the full-length film “Palma”, which received the main award of the “Vivat Cinema of Russia!” festival. His appearance was facilitated by his father’s stories about a shepherd dog abandoned by a passenger at the airport, which was found and warmed by the pilot.

“This is a debut for me again,” says Alexander Domogarov Jr. about working on the series “She’s So Cool.” – I have never filmed a TV series and am very excited about the new and unknown. We have a great script. Very lifelike and accurate. It so happened that there is a lot in it that resonates with me personally – tragic and family. Even surprising. This is a big challenge. I hope I can handle it.

The script was written by Kirill Dyshlov, who managed to combine an adventurous plot with light humor. Events take place in modern Yekaterinburg. Artem works as a taxi driver in his parents’ car and plays basketball with his friends. Next door to him lives 18-year-old Lenya, who is closely cared for by his mother because he is autistic. While visiting Artyom, Lenya saw a porn video featuring an actress with whom he falls in love. So much so that he decides to go to St. Petersburg to find her.

Artem and his friends also go on a trip, and each has completely different motives. Their journey is accompanied by unforeseen circumstances. Some people are waiting for their first love, others are going to be disappointed. The main thing is that the desperate trio will understand that Lenya is more normal than the “normal” ones, they just need to understand and accept that he is different.
