Soviet and Ukrainian actor and director Vladimir Khmelnitsky died at the age of 88. Ukrainian media reported this.

Khmelnitsky died on September 24. The cause of death has not been announced.

The artist was born in the city of Uman, Cherkasy region. Graduated from VGIK. He directed the adventure film "The Diamond Trail" (1978), directed the science fiction series "People and Dolphins", the dramas "Tethered at the Runway", "White Deer of the Tundra", "Faithful Ruslan" and others.
