Push-button phones of domestic brands bypassed Chinese ones in terms of sales in the Russian market. In 2022, the share of Russian vendors in the segment amounted to 50% of the total number of devices sold in the country, analysts at Marvel Distribution calculated. A year earlier, Russian brands of push-button phones occupied 42% of the market, and the total number of sales in 2022 increased from 2.8 million to 2.95 million units, the representative of the distributor specified.
Russian brands occupy the bulk of the push-button mobile phone market – about 60% in monetary terms and 71% in units against 58 and 64% a year earlier, says Alexander Surkov, head of the GS Group analytical center. According to him, in 2022, new Russian brands also appeared on sale, for example, Tokky from Smartecosystem LLC (part of the Rostec perimeter). Competing with domestic brands are Itel, Nokia and Philips, owned by Chinese conglomerates. But new foreign brands of push-button phones do not enter the Russian market due to low margins, Surkov explains.
