Myanmar Airways (Myanmar) will lease long-haul Airbus A330 aircraft for direct flights from Yangon to Moscow, the press service of the airline told Vedomosti. At the first stage, the carrier plans to operate 2-3 flights a week, it is expected that flights to the Russian capital will begin in 2024. The company does not report how many aircraft are in question.
There is currently no direct flight between Myanmar and Russia. The press service of the Ministry of Transport said that the intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and Myanmar provides for the possibility of flights between Moscow and Yangon. “The decision on the feasibility and frequency of flights is made exclusively by airlines, depending on the predicted passenger traffic and other factors,” the representative of the department said.
