Writer Eduard Bagirov died in Moscow at the age of 48, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said. Mrs. Simonyan did not specify the reasons for his death.
“Edik Bagirov really died. They didn’t want to report while the family was in such shock, but what can you hide here, ”Ms. Simonyan wrote in her Telegram channel.
According to blogger Ilya Varlamov (included by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the register of foreign agents), the writer has been in a coma for the last week, all organs were allegedly denied him.
Eduard Bagirov is known as the author of the novels “Guest worker”, “Lovers” and “Idealist”, as well as a film writer and political consultant. In 2002, Mr. Bagirov, together with the writer Sergei Minaev, founded the literary portal litprom.ru, and since 2005 he has become its editor-in-chief.
Eduard Bagirov was a confidant of Vladimir Putin in the 2012 elections, and also ran for the State Duma in 2016 from the Patriots of Russia party. In 2022, Mr. Bagirov became the host of an author’s program on Radio Sputnik (he took over the frequency of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, closed by decision of Roskomnadzor for spreading false information about the military operation in Ukraine).
