“The State Corporation “Deposit Insurance Agency” (DIA) has paid 3.26 billion rubles to Qiwi Bank depositors since February 29, which is 75% of the insurance liability. 6.9 thousand depositors—individuals and legal entities—received compensation,” says the message on website agencies.
The agency estimated the amount of insurance liability after the deprivation of Qiwi Bank’s license at 4.3 billion rubles. 300 individuals, 11 thousand individual entrepreneurs and 9 thousand legal entities can receive insurance compensation.
The Bank of Russia revoked the license of Qiwi Bank on February 21. The reason for this decision was shadow operations and violations of the law. Qiwi Bank ranked 89th in Russia in terms of assets. The deposit insurance agency was appointed to the temporary administration of the bank.
