Recently, the name of Pavel Derevyanko has been mentioned mainly in the context of scandalous accusations of cryptocurrency fraud. But, despite such uncreative circumstances, the actor continues to work and was recently spotted on the set of a new series.
For the sake of the new role, Pavel will not need a radical reincarnation. The plot of the series develops in modern Moscow and is dedicated to the mores of the glossy industry. A once successful writer is forced to accept the position of editor-in-chief of a magazine, and immersion in the world of behind-the-scenes intrigue, combined with the need to reinvent a sinking magazine, turns out to be a test of his strength.
From the outside, the plot doesn’t look exactly modern. The gloss is now in a very deplorable state, the external gloss of the once rich editorial offices has recently faded considerably, and only pleasant memories of the fat years of advertising abundance remain. However, the script was written by an author who has been an industry insider for several years. Writer Sergei Minaev was the editor-in-chief of Esquire magazine and began working on the script for the series two years ago, while he was still in this position.
As Sergei himself notes, at first a comedy was planned about the inner workings of the main men’s magazine, the Moscow crowd, the morals of the largest advertisers, and the merciless and meaningless social life. However, in the spring of this year, at the age of forty-seven, Eduard Bagirov, Minaev’s friend and colleague, died, and this tragic circumstance greatly influenced the script. However, even in a drama about the crisis in the industry and the emotional turmoil of its participants, there will apparently be a place for biting Minaev jokes.
The project has an enviable cast. In addition to Pavel Derevyanko, Evgeny Tsyganov (he has the main role), as well as Nadezhda Mikhalkova, Ravshana Kurkova, Alexandra Bortich, Ida Galich, Denis Vlasenko, Alexandra Rebenok, Igor Vernik, Lukerya Ilyashenko, Egor Koreshkov, Olga Sutulova and others will play in the series.
