Deputy Prime Minister Grigorenko proposed labeling canned fish because of counterfeits

At the end of December, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko instructed the relevant departments to work on a proposal to introduce labeling of canned fish to combat counterfeits. This was stated in the instructions of Mr. Grigorenko, which I have read RBC.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor must submit reports with their position by January 19. In December, the Prosecutor General’s Office approached the Deputy Prime Minister with a proposal to introduce labels, which has repeatedly identified the falsification of canned fish on the Russian market.

In a letter to Dmitry Grigorenko, the department indicated that counterfeit products pose a threat to consumer health, reduce competition in the market and reduce the efficiency of the state’s fiscal function. The prosecutor’s office explained the appearance of counterfeit goods in stores by the lack of differentiation between the control functions of Rosselkhoznadzor and Rospotrebnadzor. It was proposed to introduce the marking in the “Honest Sign” system.

In 2022, the Association of Fishery Industrial Enterprises of Primorye appealed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a request to intervene in the situation with the growth of counterfeit canned fish. The text of the letter indicates that some enterprises are replacing expensive saury with cheaper sardines and herring.

More details in the text “Kommersant” “Fake saury surfaced on the internet”.
