Turkish Denizbank did not receive notifications about the ban on opening accounts for Russian citizens. This was stated by a bank representative at one of the branches in Ankara.
“We have not received any notifications to prohibit citizens of the Russian Federation from opening accounts. Accounts (citizens of the Russian Federation.— “Ъ”) are opening,” RIA Novosti’s interlocutor assured.
The bank clarified that to open a bank account with Denizbank, Russians need to have a residence permit, as well as a deposit in the equivalent of $10 thousand. This deposit cannot be withdrawn during the validity of the account.
Last week, RBC published reportedthat Denizbank sent letters to clients from Russia requesting documents confirming their right to reside in Turkey. In the bank assuredthat this is due to internal procedures and not to US sanctions policy.
Details are in the Kommersant FM article. “Denizbank sent out letters of happiness”.
