Croatia will continue issuing tourist visas to Russians Kommersant FM director of the Russian representative office of the republic for tourism Raiko Ruzicka. The fact that the Moscow embassy will stop accepting relevant applications from May 1, the VFS Global visa center reported this morning.

“I spoke with our ambassador today. He said that we issue tourist visas, nothing has changed. But due to the fact that the number of employees in the visa center has decreased, of course, we cannot issue such a number of visas as before,” said Mr. Ruzicka.

He also clarified that despite the fact that Croatia has joined the Schengen Agreement since 2023, the embassies do not declare new additional requirements for applicants. “Recently, we have actually worked according to the Schengen rules,” the diplomat specified.

European Union (EU) officially approved Croatia’s entry into the European area in July 2022. As early as November 2022, the European Commission (EC) recommended Council of the European Union to accept in the Schengen area Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia. At the Russian Foreign Ministry indicatedthat the republic has brought diplomatic relations with Russia “to the freezing point.”
