Communications operator Transtelecom suffered a cyber attack – Kommersant

The infrastructure of the operator Transtelecom, a provider of telecom solutions for private users and large businesses, was subjected to a cyber attack using an encryption virus, interlocutors in the cybersecurity market tell Kommersant.
This software encrypts company data, making it unreadable. Attackers use it to subsequently demand a ransom from the victim for decrypting the data, the interlocutors clarify. They say that the company has its own cyber incident response center, but nevertheless, hackers managed to hit the provider’s infrastructure.
Transtelecom told Kommersant that cyber attacks on the company’s information infrastructure occur daily. “In the past 24 hours alone, information security tools have detected and neutralized hundreds of external computer attacks. Nevertheless, Transtelecom’s communication network is operating as normal,” the operator’s press service assured.
