At least 14 websites of American airports, including the largest ones, were inaccessible on the morning of Monday, October 10th. According to CNNRussian hackers from the Killnet group claimed responsibility for this.
The TV channel notes that the air travel itself was not affected by the cyber attacks, but the problems were delivered to passengers seeking information about flights. Hacker attacks, in particular, were subjected to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
Last week, Killnet claimed responsibility for shutting down US state government websites. The group is also accused of briefly shutting down the US Congress website in July and of cyberattacks on Lithuanian organizations after the country blocked the delivery of goods to Kaliningrad in June.
The type of cyber attack used by Killnet is known as a DDoS attack, in which hackers flood computer servers with fake web traffic to disable them. The hacker group regularly reports on attacks on the Internet resources of countries that oppose the Russian special operation in Ukraine through sanctions or the supply of weapons to Kyiv.
